Memory Portraits 35 artists create 35 portraits for the orphaned children of El-Shadai Foster Home
in Uganda, Africa
Purpose of Memory Portraits "To create an original portrait for a child living as an orphan around the world. Given that children who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, or orphaned usually have few personal keepsakes, the purpose of the portraits is to provide them with a special memory of their youth and to help honor their heritage and identity." — Ben Schumaker, www.thememoryproject.org
After our September 15th Fundraiser, we were lucky enough to have volunteers Dori and Calida hand deliver the portraits to the El-Shadai Home in Uganda. Now is the best part, the chidren receiving their portraits! Each portrait was packaged in an archival plastic sleeve, with a photo and letter from the artist, a magnet and photo of the child, and a brochure from the show.
